Soliant Names 2014 Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the U.S.

McKay-Dee Hospital Takes Top Honor

June 23, 2014

Atlanta, GA (June 23, 2014) – Soliant Health, a leading specialty healthcare staffing provider and part of Adecco Group, is proud to name McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah as the Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S. of 2014.

For the sixth year in a row, Soliant Health turned to hospital staff, patients and supporters for help in choosing the top 20 hospitals worthy of “Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S.” distinction. Winners rested entirely on the hands of voters, with no outside influence, like it did for the first time in 2013.

Soliant Health received a record-breaking 250,000 votes this year, more than double the number of votes it received in 2013. In the end, McKay-Dee Hospital took the top honor with its breathtaking views of the Wasatach Mountain range, strategic use of a parallel-corridor system and patient rooms large enough to comfortably accommodate families and friends.

“McKay-Dee Hospital is excited to be named the most beautiful hospital in America. At Intermountain Healthcare, we strive every day to provide a healing environment to our patients, not only within our facilities, but also in the hearts and minds of all of our team members, from caregivers and planners to environmental services and support teams,” said Timothy Pehrson, Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital CEO and Regional Vice President. “We have found that beauty is just as important in the smile of a nurse and the comforting voice of a doctor as it is within the walls and the grounds of the hospital itself.”

McKay-Dee Hospital’s strategic and impressive use of a parallel-corridor system goes beyond promoting efficiency in its spaces. The size and position of the building were designed to enhance views of the beautiful Wasatach Range and surrounding valleys. The corridor itself boasts an airy and public thoroughfare with many windows looking out onto the gardens. Furthermore, this system makes it easier for physicians, nurses and other caregivers to quickly move equipment and supplies to their patients. Intermountain’s McKay-Dee Hospital was truly designed from the ground up with the patient in mind.

“In our sixth year of exploring the effects that beautiful hospitals have on the type of care they provide, we grow more and more convinced that happy hospitals make happy patients,” said David Alexander, president of Soliant Health. “With Mc-Kay Dee Hospital, we saw this correlation come to life once again, this time with an astonishing 30,000 votes serving as a testament.”

McKay-Dee Hospital has made it into Soliant’s Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the U.S. twice before, taking the #9 spot in 2013 and the #11 spot in 2011. All top 20 hospitals garnered an incredible amount of support from supporters who voted tirelessly during the competition’s almost two-month long process.
