ICU RN Travel Nurse Job in Greenville, NC
ICU RN needed for a 13-week contract travel nurse assignment to start ASAP in Greenville, NC. The ideal candidate would have 2-3 years of ICU experience and be able to float to different ICU units. 24-Bed Intensive Care Unit Surgical intensive care provides support for the critically ill surgical and/or trauma patient; this ICU is a crucial part of our Level One Trauma Center. SICU is a closed ICU, where all admissions require consult of the Trauma Critical Care Attending. The critically ill trauma patient includes approximately 75% of the patients admitted to the SICU. Patients in this setting require frequent assessments of all body systems and collaborative evaluations to manage patient care. Common diagnoses include, but are not limited to, severe sepsis, multi system trauma injuries, organ transplant, respiratory failure, acute renal failure, and multisystem organ failure. Continuity of care is facilitated through transition to our surgical intermediate unit. The population within SICU will include but is not limited to:
*Critically ill and injured multi-system trauma (including neuro trauma)
*Additional patient populations admitted to the SICU for critical care and monitoring include: Surgical oncology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, OB/GYN, renal and pancreas transplant recipients, and organ donor patients including brain death donation and donation after cardiac death.
SICU RN's must demonstrate expertise in advanced hemodynamic monitoring including Swan Ganz catheter management, ICP monitoring, CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), and ventilator management. Nursing staff analyze all hemodynamics and respiratory care practitioners assist with mechanical ventilator management skills that will be utilized are lumbar, ventriculostomy and ICP management, procedure assistance for bedside surgeries including: Tracheostomies, PEG insertions, and Exploratory Laparotomies, arterial line, central line and Swan Ganz management, epidural management, mechanical ventilation management. Various drains including chest tubes, extensive wound vacs, abramson drains, and multiple others. Various intravenous drips concurrent with the ICU setting including pain, sedation, paralytics, vasopressors drips etc and management of such.
*RN ratio for Intensive Care beds 1:2 - 1:1 based on patient acuity
*Nursing assistant ratio for Intensive Care beds 1:12
Current Compact state RN or NC RN licensure required. Nursing staff analyze cardiac rhythms on their patients; we are not monitored by monitor techs must be able to read strips. BLS, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) are required. NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification is required as well. FCCS (Fundamentals of Critical Care Support) is recommended.
