Once a rum and molasses trading town, Providence, RI now boasts historic sites, wondrous museums, and a vast outdoor scene. Rhode Island dates back to 1636, but here are some of modern day's best attractions in Providence:

  • Walking Benefit St. - Several of this street's buildings date back before the Revolutionary War. This strip allots architecture lovers with views of cobblestone streets, RISD, a 1792 Nightingale House, as well as Brown University
  • White Horse Tavern - Built in 1652, this tavern is one of the oldest buildings in the USA. This used to be the city hall, the courthouse, and also a R.I. General Assembly meeting place. Today, enjoy the history and a nice meal.
  • Rhode Island School of Design and the Museum of Art - Having the school is a memento in its own right, but having the Museum is a completely different experience. It is the 20th largest museum in the USA, includes a 12th century Japanese Buddha, Paul Revere's silver collection, and houses 86,000 pieces.
