Primary Responsibilities (essential functions as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act)
A. Demonstrates competence in the areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships, and technical skills at time of hire and annually.
B. Demonstrates ability to provide care/service safely and efficiently for the care of each patient. Neonatal (up to 1 month) - Older Adult (65 years and over)
C. Performs OR procedures following department standards. 1. Maintenance of asepsis 2. Positioning 3. Prepping and draping 4. Needle count 5. Instrument count 6. Sponge count 7. Specimen care 8. Dressing application
D. Provides appropriate instrumentation to surgeon during case and performs skills using appropriate techniques and equipment.
E. Prepares instruments and supplies for sterilization; cleans and decontaminates instruments; assists in cleaning/preparing OR suite for next case.
F. Participates with the unit team in implementing supportive strategies for cost-containment.
G. Attends conferences, in service programs, and meetings as scheduled.
H. Provides psychological and physical comfort measures to patient; identifies changes in condition and immediately reports to RN/charge nurse including patient safety concerns. II. Secondary Responsibilities
A. Performs purposeful data collection; uses electronic record appropriately.
B. Participates in department/hospital committee.
C. Participates in new product and procedure evaluation.
Skills: BLS High School Diploma Degree in OR Scrub Tech or 1 year of experience Travel
