SCHOOL NURSE

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This employee is responsible for the coordination of the school health services program and the human growth and development curriculum. Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
1. Planning and Development:
a. Coordinating health screening programs.
b. Assisting in identification of high risk students.
c. Assisting in provision of healthy, safe environment for students and faculty.
2. Service to Students:
a. Appraising health status of students.
b. Assisting in care of ill or injured.
c. Referrals for health care.
3. Service to Parents:
a. Counseling and referrals regarding need for students to receive health care.
4. Service to Teachers:
a. Providing health inservices
b. Assisting with health curriculum.
b. Providing information regarding personal health problems.
5. Service to Community:
a. Prevention and control of communicable disease.
b. Monitoring completion of immunizations.
6. Professional Development:
a. Participating in health inservices to assist in identifying and referring students
with health problems.
