Soliant Health is setting up interviews for a full-time special education position at a school district near the Hartford, Connecticut area. An ideal candidate would excel at communicating with children in 4th and 5th grade with significant behavior challenges and working collaboratively with the school team. This candidate should have experience adapting and modifying general education curriculum. The teacher would be responsible for providing academics (reading, math, social studies, science) for the entire day. Students attend academic arts with their age appropriate peers. I am looking for a teacher who has experience with behaviorally challenged students and is familiar with a positive behavior management approach.
Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students
Develop behavior modification techniques
Maintain calm demeanor
Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s abilities
