Laboratory Job Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from my recruiter?
At Soliant Health, your recruiter is your career counselor and friend. He or she will become your “point” person for advice, career planning, and decision support, and is always available for assistance.

How do I become a travel laboratory professional with Soliant Health?
Soliant provides you with two easy ways to get your travel laboratory career started right now—call one of our recruiters at 800.849.5502 or fill out an online application.

What are the current requirements for travel laboratory professionals?
The minimum requirements include a valid license in the laboratory discipline in which you practice, updated physical and vaccinations, clinical experience, and strong medical employment references.

How long is the typical travel assignment?
The majority of the Soliant Health travel laboratory job assignments last between eight and 13 weeks. Many assignments get extended, and the candidate always has the choice on whether they want to accept an extension or not.

Once I have accepted an assignment, what happens next?
Your healthcare recruiter will verify your salary, shift, unit, and start date. If you’re taking a travel assignment, then one of our Soliant travel coordinators will make your travel and housing arrangements. We will then send you all the necessary information you will need to begin your new job!

How soon after accepting an assignment can I expect to start?
Most assignments begin within five business days after all agreements are received.

Where are Soliant Health travelers placed?
We have positions available almost anywhere in the nation- from teaching hospitals to community medical facilities.

Do I need a license for each state?
No, there are currently ten states that require license. Your recruiter will walk you through which states require licenses.

Once I’m licensed to work in one state, how long does it take to get licensed in another?
Each state has its own process for licensing. One may take several months while another takes one day. Your Soliant recruiter will help you through the process

Does Soliant Health provide benefits to temp-to-hire placements?
Yes. Once you begin your assignment you may be eligible to receive benefits.

How much money will I make with Soliant Health?
Your pay rate fluctuates based on your location, facility, specialty and experience.

How will I be paid?
Soliant Health has a weekly pay system, so you will receive a check every Friday during your assignment. You also can take advantage of our direct deposit program.

How are taxes handled?
Soliant Health withholds your taxes, so you don’t have to worry about the self-employment tax. You’ll receive a W-2 from every state in which you worked at the end of the year. Your recruiter can tell you more about how this works.

What happens once my laboratory assignment is complete?
At Soliant Health we give you the option to work with your recruiter to find a new travel, temp-to-hire or permanent position. You also may be able to remain in your current position if the facility asks you to extend your assignment, and you want to stay.
