We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT) to join our educational team for the upcoming school year in Pittsfield, MA. As a DHHT, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, helping them develop their language, communication, and academic skills.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
- Provide direct instruction to students, utilizing appropriate teaching strategies and materials
- Develop and implement individualized plans to meet the unique needs of each student
- Utilize assistive technology and other resources to enhance student learning and communication
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Collaborate with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on student progress and discussing strategies for support at home
- Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and school events as required
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Valid state certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, assessment methods, and assistive technology for students with hearing impairments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students across grade levels (K-12)
- Passion for working with students with disabilities and promoting inclusive education
