A full-semester contract position is available for an Assistive Technology Specialist to support K-12 students in a school setting. This role is centered on enhancing educational experiences through the integration and management of assistive technology, ensuring students with diverse learning needs have access to appropriate tools and resources that promote independence and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students’ needs for assistive technology in collaboration with educators, therapists, and families.
  • Provide training and support to staff and students on the use of various assistive technology devices and software.
  • Assist in the selection, setup, and maintenance of assistive technology equipment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) incorporating assistive technology solutions.
  • Monitor and document student progress related to assistive technology interventions.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in the field of assistive technology.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with assistive technology assessment and implementation in K-12 educational environments.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of assistive technology tools and software.
  • Strong communication and training skills for working with educators, students, and families.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to individualized educational planning.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and accommodations within educational settings.
