Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Caseload: 1:1 High school
Responsibilities:
- Provide braille support to students with visual impairments in a high school setting
- Transcribe textbooks, instructional materials, and other educational resources into braille
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure that braille materials are provided in a timely manner
- Conduct braille assessments to determine students' individual needs and develop appropriate braille instruction plans
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in braille literacy skills, including reading and writing
- Monitor and document student progress in braille proficiency
- Collaborate with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to develop and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with visual impairments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of braille services provided
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Braillist or proficiency in braille transcription
- Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
- Knowledge of braille code and proficiency in braille transcription
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability in a school environment
