What You Will Do:
- Utilizes computerized tomography scanners to produce cross-section images of patient’s internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.
- Adheres to radiation safety measures under the supervision of the Radiologist.
- Specific duties include the ability to accurately interpret a physician’s scanning instructions, administration of contrast material, prepares and operates CT equipment, accurately positions patient to capture appropriate images, transmission of images to interpreting physician for review, ability to work as a team member, follows infection control and safety guidelines.
- Serves as the primary liaison between patients and radiologists and other members of the support team.
- Uses professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing their duties with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Participates in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence.
Education
Associates degree required in medical imaging
Experience
Two years clinical experience as a CT technologist in a hospital setting required
Certification & Licensures
ARRT (R) Registered required
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart required **
ARRT (CT) Registered
Must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation and starting the travel assignment.
State licensure from the Virginia state medical imaging board application required prior to hire and licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Qualifications
Must demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology.
Maintains a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.
Skilled in the operation of CT scan equipment with attention to detail, understanding of computer technology, ability to work in a stressful environment with the ability to follow directions/instructions from supervisor.
Consistent attendance is required to assure that patient needs are met.
