New opening with our client, a standalone facility located in Fort Wayne, IN, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Pharmacy (DOP) to lead our pharmacy operations. This permanent position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of our rehab hospital and ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to our patients. Responsibilities:
- Maintain and coordinate systems to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the pharmacy.
- Administer appropriate pharmaceutical care to hospital patients and supervise professional, technical, and clerical pharmacy personnel involved in pharmacy operations.
- Perform the duties of a staff pharmacist, as required.
- Ensure an adequate drug supply in the pharmacy at all times by ordering appropriate quantities in a timely manner.
- Follow established procedures for the procurement of medications, including emergency situations.
- Conduct the annual inventory process and submit reports to the Business Office.
- Comply with all Federal and State Pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations.
- Oversee the monthly removal of outdated medications and facilitate their return to the manufacturer.
- Maintain an available stock of antidotes and other emergency drugs in both the pharmacy and patient care areas.
- Participate in the development and updating of a hospital formulary or drug list.
- Provide the hospital formulary or drug list to the professional staff for their reference.
- Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy, including checking and recording refrigerator conditions.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Indiana (or eligible for licensure).
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a pharmacy setting, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, including procurement, inventory management, and compliance with regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff at all levels.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and computer proficiency.
