Position: Paraprofessional - Elementary School STEPS Program Support

Location: New Jersey (NJ)

Contract Duration: ASAP start - June 2024

Hours: 32.50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Paraprofessional to join our team at an Elementary School in New Jersey. This position involves providing essential support to the STEPS program. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.

Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers and specialists in implementing the STEPS program curriculum.
• Work with students individually or in small groups to provide academic and behavioral support.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement and success.
• Help create and maintain a safe, organized, and conducive learning environment.
• Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
• Collaborate with the teaching team and other professionals to address students' unique needs.
• Provide feedback to teachers and staff regarding student progress and behavior.
• Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of students throughout the school day.
• Participate in professional development and training as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the educational mission of the school.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or an Associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience working with children, especially in an educational or childcare setting, is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with educators and specialists.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
• Ability to follow instructions and adapt to the needs of diverse learners.
• Familiarity with the New Jersey educational system is a plus.
