Virginia Regional Medical Center has an immediate need for a Gastroenterologist (GI) Physician. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must have at least 8 years of experience. This is a permanent job opportunity . Will be required to float between two locations.

Qualifications | Basic Requirements :

  • United States Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training.
  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology and/or be certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Responsibilities:

    Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Evaluation of all new inpatient and outpatient GI consults. They will be expected to perform endoscopic procedures in the endoscopic suite and/or operating rooms with additional procedures consistent with scope of practice. Additionally staff Gastroenterologists are expected to be proficient in the following areas:
  • Colonoscopy with biopsy
  • Conscious sedation
  • Endoscopic control of bleeding
  • Esophageal dilation
  • EGD with biopsy
  • PEG tube placement
  • Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
  • Paracentesis
  • Performs other patient care related duties, as necessary
  • In addition to clinical duties, staff GI's are expected to be actively engaged in the supervision of students/ residents and physician assistants assigned to their section.
