A healthcare professional with expertise in mammography imaging is sought for a contract position based in Newark, NJ. This role involves performing diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations in compliance with ACR standards and assisting with various breast imaging procedures within a busy Breast Center setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct mammography examinations on patients across adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations efficiently and professionally.
- Assist with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic guided procedures.
- Prepare for and perform breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures, including setup and cleanup.
- Provide proper immobilization, select appropriate technical factors, and operate mammography equipment.
- Accurately identify and label patient films and develop x-ray film using established processing methods.
- Support quality control activities such as phantom imaging, darkroom and equipment testing, repeat analysis, and processor quality assurance in line with regulatory requirements.
- Educate patients on breast self-examination and provide pre- and post-procedure instructions.
- Document quality control and patient procedures in accordance with ACR, MQSA, state, and federal guidelines.
- Tailor patient communication and care to accommodate individual needs including age, culture, and sensory impairments.
- Contribute to data tracking and compilation for breast-related follow-ups and biopsy reports.
- Comply with organizational competencies and standards of professional behavior.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven experience and competency in mammography imaging and breast imaging procedures.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards including ACR and MQSA.
- Excellent communication skills and sensitivity to diverse patient populations.
- Ability to manage detailed documentation and quality control processes.
- Radiologic technologist licensure or certification as required.
