A healthcare role is available for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Newark, NJ, on a contract basis. This position involves operating specialized nuclear medicine imaging equipment and performing various radionuclide procedures to assist in patient diagnosis and therapy.

Key responsibilities include immobilizing patients as needed, selecting and operating nuclear medicine equipment, evaluating radiographic images via PACS to ensure quality and proper identification, and preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals safely. The role also demands maintaining accurate records of radioactive materials compliance with state and federal regulations, calibrating equipment, and following strict radiation safety protocols. Daily duties extend to clerical tasks such as using EPIC, Teletracking System, and Nuclear Medicine Information System for scheduling and documentation. Flexibility to work scheduled shifts including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call assignments is required. Patient interaction is conducted using A.I.D.E.T. standards with sensitivity to diverse needs including cultural and communication considerations.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment and performing radionuclide procedures
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and regulatory requirements (NRC, JCAHO, state guidelines)
  • Experience with PACS, EPIC, and related healthcare information systems
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain meticulous records of radioactive substances
  • Ability to work rotating assignments including Cardiology and PET/CT imaging
  • Excellent patient communication skills tailored to diverse populations and needs
  • Willingness to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and accept on-call duties
