An Inpatient Pharmacy Technician become available at one of the Greater Seattle area's largest, most comprehensive medical system. This healthcare facility is home to some of the region’s most sophisticated medical technology, including the latest diagnostic and treatment options in the heart of the Northwest and at the leading edge of medicine.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, with rotating weekends

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver medications to nursing units and other areas of the hospital.
  • Package medications in single-unit packages.
  • Package patient-specific medications in single-unit packages.
  • Receives and organizes physician/dietitian orders/prescriptions; interprets orders by utilizing medical terminology and generic and trade names of medications.
  • Performs calculations for preparation of dose; fills medication orders/prescriptions, attaches the proper name and medication labels; refers completed product to pharmacist for checking and countersigning when medication is not filled by automated medication distribution system.
  • Organizes the timely dispensing of medication/nutrition to the patient or nursing unit.
  • Preferred:

  • Performs calculations and prepares sterile products using aseptic technique.
  • Prepares various special IV admixtures/chemotherapy
  • Organizes the timely dispensing of medication/nutrition to the patient or nursing unit.
  • Operates automated medication distribution system.
  • Work in the IV room and compound IV medications by following USP 797 standards.
  • Sanitize an IV room, equipment, and hood.
  • Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Nationally certified (PTCB) is a PLUS!
  • Active and clear Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Washington
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in hospital setting
  • EPIC & Pyxis experience preferred
