Interim Director of Pharmacy - Columbia, SC

Soliant Health is working with a well-established rehab hospital located in Florence, SC, is currently seeking a talented and experienced Director of Pharmacy (DOP) to oversee and optimize our pharmacy operations. This is a 13-week contract position that offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to our patients. The position requires a Monday to Friday schedule with occasional weekend coverage.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and coordinate systems to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the pharmacy.
• Ensure appropriate pharmaceutical care is administered to hospital patients and supervise professional, technical, and clerical pharmacy personnel involved in pharmacy operations.
• Perform the duties of a staff pharmacist, as required.
• Maintain an adequate drug supply in the pharmacy at all times by ordering appropriate quantities in a timely manner.
• Follow established procedures for the procurement of medications, including emergency situations.
• Complete the annual inventory process and submit reports to the Business Office.
• Ensure compliance with all Federal and State Pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations.
• Oversee the monthly removal of outdated medications and facilitate their return to the manufacturer.
• Document all recalled drugs.
• Maintain an available stock of antidotes and other emergency drugs in both the pharmacy and patient care areas.
• Participate in the development and updating of a hospital formulary or drug list.
• Provide the hospital formulary or drug list to the professional staff for their reference.
• Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy, including regular checks and records of refrigerator temperatures.

Qualifications:

• Current licensure as a pharmacist in the state of South Carolina (or eligible for licensure).
• Previous experience in a leadership role within a pharmacy setting, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, including procurement, inventory management, and compliance with regulations.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff at all levels.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and computer proficiency.
