MI Licensed Contract/Retail Pharmacy Technician (13-Week/Full-Time)

Primary Purpose:

• Under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients compounding and preparing medications, emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments using such equipment as graduates, balances, mortars, pestles and funnels.
• Fills bottles, capsules, or other package forms with measured amounts of medications according to the prescription.
• Processes prescription information for medications as well as IV solutions.
• Answers the telephone, receiving and relaying messages as needed.
• Maintains the department in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
• Verifies all orders with the Pharmacist on duty and informs the Pharmacist of any medications that do not seem in line with the patient's condition or previous medications.
• Receives outpatient prescriptions, processes information through a computer system, informs Pharmacist of allergies/computer-generated drug interactions, obtains the appropriate amount of medication from stock, after Pharmacist reviews prescription - appropriately enters information on a cash register and finalizes the monetary transaction. Completes retail transactions.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Certified as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) State of Michigan-licensed as Pharmacy Technician
