The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to assist in the delivery of speech and language therapy services. The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in supporting students with speech and language needs and will be adept at working collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Therapy Sessions: Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist in conducting therapy sessions with individual students or small groups, following prescribed therapy plans and techniques.
  • Data Collection: Observe and record student progress, behaviors, and responses during therapy sessions and assist in preparing reports.
  • Instruction and Guidance: Provide support and reinforcement of speech and language skills in classroom settings and during one-on-one sessions as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Materials Preparation: Prepare and organize therapy materials and resources needed for sessions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other staff to implement strategies and support students' communication needs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student progress, therapy sessions, and other relevant documentation.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a related field.
  • State licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, if required.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in an educational or therapeutic setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directives and implement therapy plans developed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
