An opportunity is available for a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technician with specialized experience in adult CVOR cases such as CABG, AAA, valve replacements, TAVRs, and heart and lung transplants. This contract position requires a candidate with proven expertise working inside a hospital cardiovascular operating room and offers a dynamic surgical environment with fluctuating volumes.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years dedicated CVOR experience (RN or Tech)
- For RNs: Current BLS and ACLS certification; for Scrub Techs: BLS and CST certifications
- RN skills: circulating experience, Foley catheter, chest tube management, AED use
- Scrub Tech skills: proficiency in cardiovascular surgical cases listed above
- Experience with robotics (Da Vinci D5) preferred but not mandatory
- Must have prior hospital CVOR experience; first-time travelers not accepted
Shift / Schedule:
- 12-hour day shifts with 36 hours per week
- Orientation over one week with variable shift hours
- Weekend rotation based on unit needs
- On-call with 40-minute response time; holiday coverage expected
- Schedule set in 6-week increments, with management approval required for time off
Responsibilities:
- Assist in complex cardiovascular surgeries and manage specialized CVOR equipment including Bovie, harmonic scalpel, tourniquets, OR beds, and stretchers
- Utilize EMR (Cerner), IV pumps (Plum ICU Medical), and medication dispensing systems (Omnicell)
- Collaborate closely with surgical RN and tech partners to maintain smooth operative flow
- Support potential floating to the Vascular OR during lunch relief if comfortable
