This opportunity is for an experienced CVOR Surgical Tech to support advanced cardiovascular and general surgical procedures in a well-equipped, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. The role requires in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurosurgical, and general surgical cases and demands a professional skilled in fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in complex surgical procedures including open heart surgery, valve replacements, vascular, orthopedic, neuro, and general surgeries.
- Operate sophisticated medical technologies such as EPIC Optime EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors.
- Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to maintain patient safety, uphold sterile techniques, and optimize OR flow.
- Participate in on-call rotations including holiday coverage, with 6-9 call shifts monthly.
- Complete unit-specific orientation to familiarize with institutional protocols and equipment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of General OR experience plus 5 years in CVOR preferred; consideration given to those with strong surgical backgrounds.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred; Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) designation is advantageous.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) recommended.
- High level of clinical judgment and ability to adapt in critical, time-sensitive situations.
Schedule:
- 10-hour day shifts from 7 AM to 5 PM.
- Six-week scheduling cycle with holiday and on-call responsibilities.
