This opportunity is for experienced nursing professionals with dedicated expertise in the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR). Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience and be fully licensed and certified to work in this specialized surgical environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with complex adult CVOR cases including CABG, AAA repairs, valve replacements, TAVRs, and heart and lung transplants
- Provide circulating or scrub nursing support, managing equipment such as Bovie, harmonic scalpels, and robotic systems (Da Vinci D5 preferred)
- Maintain sterile field and assist with catheter, chest tube management, and AED procedures as per role requirements
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including 1 RN and 1 Tech per case, following Cerner EMR documentation protocols
- Participate in on-call rotations with a 40-minute response time and weekend/holiday shifts based on unit needs
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of dedicated CVOR experience (RN or Tech) required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications for RN candidates; BLS and CST certifications for scrub techs
- Proven competence with adult cardiovascular surgical patient care, including Foley catheter and chest tube management
- Comfortable supporting vascular OR as needed for relief during shifts
- Experience with robotic surgical systems preferred but not mandatory
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour day shifts totaling 36 hours per week
- Orientation spans one week with variable shift hours (0630-1900, 0630-1700, or 1030-2300)
- Schedule created in 6-week increments with potential weekend and holiday commitments
