Deliver essential perioperative support with a surgical technology role focused on operating room team assistance. This contract position offers the chance to utilize your expertise in a dynamic environment supporting general and specialty surgeries with flexible scheduling options.
Location: Based in Cary, NC, this role serves a major medical campus known for advanced healthcare services and a collaborative professional community. Schedule/Hours:
- 10-hour day shifts, typically 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Weekend and holiday coverage as needed
- Float assignments to similar units
- On-call and call-back duties with variable days off
Responsibilities:
- Assist surgical teams by preparing and maintaining the sterile field
- Manage surgical instruments and supplies during procedures
- Support surgeons with effective scrub techniques across general and specialty cases
- Utilize Epic charting system to accurately document perioperative details
- Adapt to schedule changes and unit needs with resilience and professionalism
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1+ year of surgical tech experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist (preferred) or non-certified with relevant skills
- Current AHA BLS certification required; CST NBSTSA certification preferred
- Experience with Epic electronic health records
- Demonstrated ability to manage change and maintain a positive, social attitude
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster required unless exempted for medical or religious reasons
- Travel experience highly desirable with no restriction on commute radius
