Seeking experienced Operating Room nursing and surgical technology professionals to work night shifts covering Friday through Sunday at a Level II Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center. This contract opportunity in the Millbrook, AL area requires strong expertise in trauma, neuro, general surgery, vascular, and other specialized surgical areas. Candidates with at least two years of experience, preferably with trauma and neuro focus, are encouraged to apply.
Shift Hours:
- 12-hour night shifts (6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.)
- Coverage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Weekend rotation on call including one day a week 3 p.m.–7 a.m. and one weekend a month (Fri 3 p.m. – Mon 7 a.m.)
Location Overview: Situated near Montgomery, AL, this facility has 492 beds and provides advanced care including Level II trauma services, a Level III NICU, and stroke care certification. The location offers convenient parking in a deck and access to comprehensive technology such as Cerner EMR, Omnicell medication dispensing, Plum 360 IV pumps, and Spacelabs monitors.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Nursing skills in Operating Room Technology (ORT) or Surgical Tech experience (certified or non-certified)
- Minimum 2 years OR experience; trauma experience mandatory (excluding burns)
- Strong trauma, neuro, general, vascular, ENT, orthopedic spine, gynecological, plastics, robotics (Mazor/DaVinci XI) experience preferred
- Competence in vascular endovascular procedures a plus
- Certification preferred but not required
- Familiarity with Open Heart and cardiovascular OR is helpful though not mandatory
Responsibilities:
- Assist in complex surgical procedures including trauma, neuro, vascular, and robotic surgeries
- Support patient care with a 1:1 patient ratio in specialized operating rooms
- Collaborate with team leaders, charge nurses, and supporting staff such as OR assistants and desk aides
- Participate in 2-week orientation (day shifts) including buddy call
- Adhere to facility policies including holiday and on-call rotations
- Wear provided green scrub color
