A specialized opportunity is available for an experienced Operating Room Technician with a focus on Orthopedic and Cardiovascular procedures. This night shift role offers a contract position in a dynamic surgical environment on Staten Island, NY, perfect for professionals with a minimum of two years’ experience in orthopedic cases who are comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Schedule & Hours:
- Nights, 9 PM to 7 AM
- Guaranteed 36 total working hours (excluding 1-hour breaks)
- Weekend and holiday shifts required on rotation
Key Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience specifically in orthopedic surgical cases
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Proficient with Epic electronic medical records system
- Strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced OR environment focused on cardiovascular and orthopedic surgeries
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain sterile environments for orthopedic and cardiovascular surgeries
- Assist surgical teams throughout procedures with a high degree of precision and professionalism
- Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are ready and functioning properly before, during, and after operations
- Adhere strictly to patient safety protocols and infection control standards
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, surgeons, and other operative staff to ensure positive patient outcomes
