A surgical technologist role is available for an experienced professional specializing in Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, General, and Vascular surgeries. This opportunity offers a contract position located in Wetumpka, AL, with shift hours primarily on the weekend nights (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) from 6:30 PM, featuring 12-hour shifts.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Strong surgical experience in Trauma (excluding burn cases), Neurology, General Surgery, Vascular, ENT, Orthopedics (primarily spine), Gynecology, Urology, and Robotic surgeries (both General and Neuro)
- Preferred experience with robotic systems such as Mazor and DaVinci XI
- Competency in vascular procedures including AAA, carotid surgeries, AV grafts/fistulas, femoral bypasses, and endovascular interventions (preferred)
- Certified Surgical Technologist credentials preferred but not mandatory
- Minimum two years of surgical technologist experience, especially in a trauma or high-acuity surgical setting
- Ability to adapt to multiple surgical service lines and work effectively with team leaders, charge nurses, and OR assistants
- Familiarity with EMR systems (Cerner), medication dispensing (Omnicell), and monitoring equipment (Spacelabs)
Responsibilities:
- Provide full surgical technologist support for trauma, orthopedic, neuro, vascular, and general surgery cases
- Prepare and maintain sterile environments for surgical procedures
- Assist the surgical team using advanced technologies including robotic systems
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure accurate instrumentation throughout surgeries
- Participate in weekend night shifts and weekend on-call rotations, including holiday coverage
- Complete a two-week orientation on day shifts, including buddy call assignments
