Corrections Facility RN - Chicago, IL

An opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Med/Surg within a correctional facility setting. This contract position requires a dedicated nursing professional to provide patient care in a correctional health environment, supporting the facility’s healthcare team during the designated shifts.

Location: Chicago, IL
The role is based in a busy urban area known for its rich cultural diversity and vibrant city life. Chicago offers numerous amenities, diverse dining options, and easy access to public transportation, making daily commuting manageable for those living within the metropolitan area.

Schedule:

• 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours (11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.)
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Return to work (RTO) limited to 5 days maximum with no more than 2 consecutive days off
• No time off allowed the day before or after holidays or on weekends

Responsibilities:

• Deliver nursing care to inmates with various medical needs in a correctional facility
• Float as required to meet facility demands, within scope of practice
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner electronic health records
• Adhere to facility policies and safety protocols specific to correctional healthcare

Qualifications:

• Active RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Medical/Surgical nursing
• Prior correctional nursing experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory
• Must be able to work a guaranteed 36 hours weekly
• Residency within 75 miles preferred to facilitate timely arrival and flexibility
