Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) Registered Nurse in Gastonia, NC

This opportunity is for an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiovascular Intensive Care, offering a contract position within a highly regarded acute care setting in Gastonia, NC. The unit is a 14-bed Cardiovascular ICU with an average census of 11 patients per day. This role is ideal for nurses with a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar Cardiac or Cardiothoracic ICU environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing advanced cardiac surgeries, including those supported by ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, and Impella devices.
• Manage patient presentations at designated times during each shift, ensuring effective communication with the healthcare team.
• Utilize Epic electronic medical records for accurate documentation and coordination of care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and resource nurses.
• Float to other adult critical care units as required to support patient care needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current RN license with at least 2 years of experience in CTICU or equivalent.
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Proficient in Epic EMR system and experience with high-level cardiac surgery patient care using advanced devices (ECMO, Impella, IABP).
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills, including the ability to present patient conditions effectively.

Schedule and Work Environment:

• 12-hour shifts on days (0700-1900).
• Weekend rotation includes every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
• Travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays.
• No on-call or call-back requirement.
• Orientation includes a 3-day departmental program.
