Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse (RN) | Mooresville, North Carolina

A critical care nursing opportunity is available in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) located in Mooresville, NC. This contract position offers a chance to use specialized skills in a dynamic environment focused on cardiac and thoracic patient care. The unit features 14 private rooms, including negative pressure rooms, and supports patients with complex cardiac conditions such as STEMI, cardiogenic shock, and those recovering from advanced cardiac surgeries.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Licensed RN with minimum 2 years’ critical care experience preferred
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required
• Experience with vasoactive medication management, chest tubes, ventilators, CRRT
• Skilled in handling invasive lines (arterial lines, PA catheters, transvenous pacemakers)
• Familiarity with advanced cardiac devices such as IABP and Impella
• Ability to float within a regional network of facilities as needed

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• Utilize clinical expertise to manage cardiovascular and thoracic patients
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists and respiratory therapists available 24/7
• Adhere to electronic medical record documentation using Epic system
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled

Scheduling and Work Hours:

• 12-hour night shifts from 1900 to 0700, every other weekend rotation
• Holiday coverage required at about 75% of holidays
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within regional facilities may be required with paid travel time between sites
