An experienced Registered Nurse with a background in cardiovascular intensive care is needed for a contract position in Mooresville, NC. This role supports a high-acuity 14-bed CVICU unit specializing in complex cardiac surgery cases including ECMO, OHT, LVAD/RVAD, and Impella devices. The unit maintains a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, providing a supportive environment with CNA and interdisciplinary team resources available.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2 years CVICU or equivalent CTICU experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency with Epic EMR is mandatory
- Experience managing advanced cardiac surgery patients requiring ECMO, Impella, IABP support
- Strong clinical assessment and patient presentation skills (twice per shift)
- Ability to float within adult critical care units as needed
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients
- Monitor and manage complex cardiac devices and support systems with precision
- Present comprehensive patient summaries during shift handovers
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and resource nurses
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols
- Participate in weekend night rotations (Thurs, Fri, Sat) and work approximately 75% of holidays
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour day shifts from 0700 to 1900
- Weekend nights as scheduled; no on-call responsibilities
- Orientation includes 3 days departmental training plus facility onboarding
