An opportunity is available for a registered nurse with emergency room expertise to support a busy emergency department in Boston, MA on a contract basis. This role involves working a 48-hour night shift schedule with 4 twelve-hour shifts (7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.), including every other weekend and holiday coverage. Flexibility is required to float between the general ED, Psychiatric ED, and Pediatric ED units (caring for patients aged 15 and older, unless prior pediatric experience is documented).

Key responsibilities include providing high-level care in a fast-paced environment that manages up to 440 patients daily across approximately 120 treatment areas. The patient ratio is typically between 1:4 and 1:5, adjusted according to acuity. Candidates should be prepared to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips and accurately identify heart blocks, successfully passing a telemetry test on the first day of assignment.

Desired qualifications and experience include:

  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience in Level I or II Emergency Departments or over 2 years in Level 3 or 4 ED settings
  • Active certifications in TNCC, BLS, and ACLS (all must be unexpired)
  • Ability to interpret cardiac telemetry and participate in telemetry monitoring
  • Preferred but not required experience with EPIC electronic health records, prior travel nursing assignments, and critical care nursing
