An exciting opportunity exists for experienced Registered Nurses with a strong background in Emergency Room care to contribute to a fast-paced, dynamic department in Cambridge, MA. This contract position offers the chance to apply your critical thinking skills and deliver high-quality care in a Level 1 or Level 2 Emergency Department setting.

Position Highlights:

  • 48-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Work every other weekend and holiday rotations
  • Schedule follows 4x12-hour shifts
  • Flexibility required to float between Psych ED and Pediatric ED units (providing care to patients aged 15 and above in Pediatrics, requiring either recent experience or comfort in this area)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1.5 years of recent experience in Level I or II Emergency Department, or
  • At least 2 years of recent experience in Level 3 or 4 Emergency Department
  • Competence in independently reading and interpreting telemetry rhythm strips with the ability to identify heart blocks; must pass telemetry test on Day 1 with a score of 85% or higher
  • Active and unexpired certifications in TNCC, BLS, and ACLS
  • Preferred experience with EPIC electronic medical record system, previous travel assignments, and critical care nursing

Work Environment: The department manages up to 120 treatment areas and cares for approximately 350 to 440 patients daily. Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5 depending on acuity, supporting focused and attentive nursing care. Travelers will not be assigned to trauma rooms during this contract.
