A nursing opportunity in an emergency department setting awaits a skilled Registered Nurse with at least two years of ER experience. This contract role offers a chance to work in a hospital environment with a strong team culture, utilizing advanced clinical skills and technologies to provide exceptional patient care.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active GA RN license with current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as an ER nurse; first-time travelers considered
- Experience with drip management including medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
- Ability to perform multiple roles including charge nurse, phlebotomy tasks, IV/VAT team duties, and telemetry monitoring
- Familiarity with emergency medicine and common diagnoses such as chest pain, stroke, diabetes, MVC trauma, hypertension, and mental health emergencies
- Preferred but not required: TNCC and national emergency nursing certification
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive care in a 22-bed ED (with surge capacity) averaging 85 patients daily
- Manage patient care ratios typically between 1:3 and 1:4
- Utilize EMR (EPIC), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors efficiently
- Participate in weekend rotations (approximately every other weekend) and work holidays as scheduled
- Collaborate closely with respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists who provide 24/7 support
- Uphold unit protocols, maintain documentation standards, and contribute to unit teamwork
Location: Situated in Sandersville, Georgia, the community offers a small-town atmosphere with friendly neighbors and accessible everyday amenities. The hospital supports a strong sense of teamwork and longevity among staff, with convenient free parking on campus.
Schedule:
- 12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every 6 weeks (5-6 shifts in that span)
- Holiday coverage required for key dates including Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day
