A dynamic opportunity is available for a skilled registered nurse specializing in intensive care to provide exceptional patient care in a high-acuity environment. This contract position offers the chance to work within a Level 1 trauma teaching hospital recognized for its chest pain and stroke center designations. The role involves floating across multiple ICU units—including Medical, Surgical Trauma, Neuro, Cardiovascular, and Progressive Care Units—expanding your clinical expertise and versatility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients with various diagnoses across all ICU units.
  • Manage complex equipment including Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, and utilize EPIC EMR systems.
  • Administer common drips such as insulin, heparin, and vasopressors while titrating sedation and cardiac medications.
  • Perform invasive procedures including trach care, chest tube management, and PIV starts.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including RTs, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7.
  • Participate in weekend and holiday rotations per the schedule to ensure continuous patient care.
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols and documentation standards.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years ICU experience.
  • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS; CCRN preferred.
  • Competent in cardiac EKG interpretation (EKG competency exam required upon onboarding).
  • Skills in critical care procedures and managing high-acuity ICU patients.
  • Comfortable floating among CCU, MICU, NICU, STICU, CVICU, and PCU units.
  • Effective communication and adaptability under fast-paced conditions.

  • Floating across all ICU units on the main campus.
