Intensive Care RN | Mooresville, North Carolina

Exceptional opportunity for an experienced Neuro ICU Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity critical care unit specializing in comprehensive stroke care. This contract role, based in Mooresville, NC, demands a strong background in neuro critical care with a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in managing complex neurological patients, including stroke cases.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum 2 years neuro ICU nursing experience; candidates without strong neuro critical care background will not be considered
• Proficiency in ventilator management, IV starts, and central line care
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Expertise in blood product administration and continuous IV sedation
• Familiarity with external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-neurosurgery patient management
• Experience handling acute stroke care, craniotomies, carotid interventions, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, and specialized neuro equipment such as Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Current ACLS, BCLS, and NIHP certifications required; arterial line management is a plus
• Ability to handle patient ratios of 2:1, potentially flexing to 3:1 in high census situations
• Prior traveler experience preferred; first-time travelers will not be accepted

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Provide expert nursing care to critically ill neuro patients including those with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
• Manage advanced monitoring and care devices consistent with comprehensive stroke unit protocols
• Maintain isolation precautions and proper use of PPE in high-risk patient care environments
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes for critically ill neuro patients
• Adhere strictly to scheduling needs with 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), approximately every other weekend, with a float requirement and no call responsibility
