Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) - Andover, Kansas

An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care on the Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) in a well-equipped medical center located in Andover, KS. This contract position offers the chance to work the 7 PM to 7 AM shift in a telemetry setting, caring for patients with diverse cardiac needs using advanced technology.

Location:
The unit is situated on the third floor of a modern medical facility in Andover, KS. The hospital features state-of-the-art equipment such as PCA pumps, IV pumps, and chest tubes, supporting excellent patient care. The team on the night shift consists of 8 RNs and 3 Patient Care Technicians, focused on maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6, and 1:4 for heart catheterization patients, fostering a supportive and manageable work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver patient-centered nursing care in accordance with telemetry protocols.
• Manage complex procedures including central line care, medication drips, heart catheterization recovery, and bubble studies.
• Monitor and respond appropriately to changes in patient conditions using critical thinking and clinical expertise.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Document accurately and efficiently using Meditech EMR systems.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Current RN license with experience in telemetry or intermediate care settings.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
• Positive attitude with a commitment to patient engagement and teamwork.

Schedule:

• Night shift, 7 PM – 7 AM.
