A rewarding Registered Nurse opportunity is available for experienced MedSurg/Telemetry or Emergency Department nurses with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience. This contract position is based in the Charlotte, NC region, offering a dynamic environment in a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital known for excellence in stroke and chest pain care.

Location Overview:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled nursing care primarily in Med/Tele units covering ED holds, managing varied patient types including trauma, stroke, cardiac, respiratory, and GI disorders.
  • Manage complex clinical tasks such as cardiac rhythm interpretation, fluid resuscitation, blood administration, conscious sedation, and intricate drain/tube care.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, RTs, and phlebotomists.
  • Float between multiple facilities in the region as needed, adapting to diverse clinical settings while maintaining high nursing standards.
  • Adhere to hospital protocols utilizing EPIC EMR and advanced medical technology (Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensers, Phillips monitors).

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Active RN licensure with at least 2 years MedSurg/Telemetry or ED nursing experience; trauma and stroke expertise are critical.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; PALS, CPI, TNCC preferred for ED nurses.
  • Proficient in performing critical nursing interventions including PIV starts, chest tube and NGT management, and PCA pump operation.
  • Comfortable with floating to various regional facilities and working a weekend rotation every other weekend.
  • Ability to manage patient ratios of approximately 1:5, acuity dependent.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Weekend rotation every other weekend.
  • No on-call requirements.
  • Holiday shifts at about 75% coverage.
  • Up to 6 days off approved (excluding holidays), with possible contract extension if hours are unmet.
