This opportunity is ideal for registered nurses with MedSurg or Telemetry experience seeking a contract role in a Level I trauma and teaching hospital environment. The facility offers a dynamic patient population presenting with complex cases such as trauma, stroke, cardiac issues, respiratory illness, and critical care needs.

Location: Situated in Concord, NC, this hospital maintains Magnet designation and operates 874 licensed beds, including 43 ED beds and 20 boarding beds. The setting offers diverse clinical challenges and a supportive medical team dedicated to quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care primarily in MedSurg/Telemetry units to cover ED holds.
  • Manage patients with conditions including trauma injuries, stroke, heart failure, chest pain, respiratory illnesses, AKI/CKD, and infections.
  • Perform clinical skills such as cardiac rhythm interpretation, PIV starts, chest tube and drain management, blood product administration, and care for ventilated patients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and phlebotomy.
  • Accurately monitor patient status via EPIC EMR and Phillips monitors.
  • Float within the regional facility network as required, with compensation during travel time.
  • Participate in department-specific orientation and adhere to scheduling expectations, including weekend rotations and holiday coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license.
  • Minimum 2 years MedSurg or Telemetry RN experience preferred.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (PALS, TNCC, CPI preferred for ED RNs).
  • Skills including trauma and stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and critical care drip management.
  • Ability and willingness to float to other regional hospitals within the scope of practice.

Schedule:

  • Weekend rotation every other weekend.
  • No call responsibilities.
  • Approximately 75% holiday coverage required.
  • Up to 6 days approved time off, excluding holidays.
