Deliver expert nursing care in a dynamic medical-surgical and telemetry setting with this contract opportunity based in Gastonia, NC. This role suits RNs experienced in Med/Surg and Tele with a minimum of two years in their specialty and equivalent certifications. The position involves supporting high-acuity patients, often covering ED holds involving complex cases such as trauma, stroke, cardiac events, and respiratory issues in a 43-bed emergency department within a Level I Trauma and Magnet Designated hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive patient care including monitoring, medication administration (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products), and management of tubes/drains (chest tube, NGT, Foley, PEG).
- Perform advanced nursing interventions such as conscious sedation, critical drips management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists.
- Use EMR software (Epic) to document and monitor patient care.
- Adapt to regional floating assignments across multiple facilities within the service area.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Current RN license with 2+ years experience in Med/Surg/Telemetry or ED nursing.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale; PALS and CPI mandatory for ED roles.
- Preferred trauma nursing certification (TNCC) for emergency roles.
- Skills in trauma care, stroke management, respiratory support, and advanced cardiac life support.
- Ability to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays; no on-call responsibilities.
