An experienced Registered Nurse with a strong background in medical-surgical nursing and orthopedic trauma care is needed for a 12-hour night shift contract position in the High Point, NC area. This role requires solid skills in managing pre-operative and post-operative orthopedic patients, including those undergoing total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs. The position offers the opportunity to work with advanced orthopedic equipment and technology, including EPIC electronic health records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to elective and trauma orthopedic patients.
- Utilize safe patient handling and orthopedic-specific equipment such as CPM devices, knee immobilizers, and bone foam.
- Collaborate with Rapid Response Teams to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation within EPIC.
- Adhere to strict scheduling requirements including night shifts and holiday coverage.
- Participate in mandatory compliance and certification exams, including a Pass/Fail EKG exam.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- RN license with a minimum of 2 years nursing experience; travel-experienced nurses preferred.
- Med-Surg and orthopedic trauma experience required.
- Certification in BLS required; ACLS preferred.
- Familiarity with orthopedic trauma and surgical patient care.
- Ability to work a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, with possible stretch to 1:7.
- Flexibility to work 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) including one holiday and one holiday evening shift.
- Commitment to punctuality and compliance with zero-tolerance attendance policies.
