A registered nurse with MedSurg experience is needed for a contract position in High Point, NC at a large academic medical center known for its Level 1 Trauma and Chest Pain designations. This role focuses on the Transitional Care Unit and general MedSurg patient population in a 20-bed unit within a teaching hospital environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for medical patients with conditions such as CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, infections, and wounds.
- Manage trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, and central line blood draws.
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage non-titrating drips including Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix; experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone is preferred but not required.
- Collaborate with a team consisting of CNAs, charge nurses, hospitalists, residents, and respiratory therapists available 24/7.
- Utilize EPIC for electronic medical records and operate Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing systems.
- Occasionally float within the facility as needed and within scope of practice.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse license required.
- Minimum of 2 years MedSurg nursing experience.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Skilled in nursing procedures listed above.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm checks preferred.
Schedule/Hours:
- Night shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend rotation
- Holiday coverage approximately 50% of holidays
- Schedule provided in 6-week increments
