Registered Nurse (RN) – MedSurg/Telemetry Unit | Contract Opportunity in Huntersville, NC
This role offers the opportunity to provide critical care in a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated, and teaching hospital environment featuring 874 licensed beds and specialized centers including Chest Pain and Stroke. The primary assignment is within a busy MedSurg/Telemetry unit that supports Emergency Department (ED) holds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver skilled nursing care to patients with a diverse range of acute diagnoses including trauma cases (GSW, MVA, falls), strokes, heart failure, respiratory illnesses, liver failure, and complex medical conditions such as AKI/CKD.
- Utilize advanced clinical skills such as cardiac rhythm interpretation, blood administration, chest tube and drain management, tracheostomy care, PIV starts, and medication drip management (heparin, cardiac drips, IVF).
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and resource nurses to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Manage patient loads with RN ratios up to 1:5, adjusting care based on acuity.
- Float within multiple regional facilities as needed, maintaining flexibility and adaptability across diverse clinical settings.
- Employ EPIC EMR and various clinical technology including Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, and Omnicell medication dispensing.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license.
- Minimum 2 years of MedSurg or Telemetry nursing experience (ED experience preferred but not mandatory).
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; additional certifications such as PALS, TNCC, CPI preferred.
- Demonstrated competence with trauma and medical-surgical patient care skills.
- Ability to work weekends every other week, holidays at 75%, no on-call responsibilities.
- Willingness to float across various facilities within the region.
