Contribute your expertise in MedSurg nursing within a dynamic Level 1 Trauma academic medical center located in Kernersville, NC. This contract role involves providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population in a Transitional Care Unit and General MedSurg setting, focusing on conditions such as CHF, COPD, and various infections.
Location Highlights: Situated near the vibrant city of Winston-Salem, this healthcare facility boasts 885 licensed beds and offers a stimulating environment with residents and hospitalists present 24/7. The area combines a mix of urban amenities with a welcoming community atmosphere, providing excellent living conditions for healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver nursing care to medical and occasional surgical patients with complex needs, including tracheostomies, chest tubes, and wound management.
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and perform central line blood draws.
- Administer non-titrating drips including Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix; additional experience with Cardizem and Amiodarone is a plus.
- Collaborate with a skilled team, including CNAs, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists.
- Utilize EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system.
- Participate in weekend rotations every other weekend, with holiday coverage required for 50% of holidays.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years MedSurg nursing experience required; no first-time travelers accepted.
- Active RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certification mandatory.
- Proven skills in IV starts, wound care, drainage management, and cardiac strip interpretation.
Schedule:
- Night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
- Schedules created in 6-week increments with coverage for schedule time-off approvals.
