A healthcare role is available for a Registered Nurse with Med/Surg and telemetry experience in Macon, GA. This contract position offers the chance to provide care in a dynamic Level 1 trauma and teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds and specialized centers including a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The role focuses on med/surg telemetry units with patient acuity ranging from acute to chronic conditions, surgical recovery, and complex co-morbidities.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active RN license; Med/Surg experience required (minimum 2 years)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred with successful EKG competency completion during onboarding
- Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring and drips management (HR-titrated)
- Strong clinical assessment, time management, care coordination, discharge planning and patient education abilities
- Certification in Med/Surg nursing is an advantage
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care on med/surg/telemetry units with patient ratios approximately 1:4-6
- Perform complex nursing functions including managing drips, cardiac monitoring, and post-surgical care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and specialty teams
- Float to various med/surg units as needed to support staffing
- Use EMR (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, and Pyxis med dispensers
- Participate in a schedule with 12-hour night shifts, weekend rotations, and holiday shifts according to the facility’s policies
Schedule/Hours:
- 12-hour night shift (7 PM to 7 AM)
- Weekend rotation: approximately 5-6 weekends every 6 weeks
- Holiday coverage includes one shift for major holidays
- No on-call or call back requirements
