An opportunity is available for a registered nurse specializing in medical-surgical care with a focus on orthopaedic spine patients. This contract position offers the chance to work a 7 PM to 7 AM shift, providing care in a newly established orthopaedic spine unit.
The unit consists of 34 beds and a dedicated team of approximately 50 staff members. Night shifts typically include a charge nurse coordinator (CNC), five registered nurses (RNs), and three patient care technicians (PCTs), maintaining patient ratios of 6:1. The facility utilizes Meditech electronic medical records (EMR) and is equipped with traction devices vital for patient interventions.
Key responsibilities include managing patients recovering from spine and joint procedures such as total joint replacements, applying orthopaedic precautions related to spine, hip, and joint care, and delivering compassionate, team-oriented patient support.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid RN license with medical-surgical nursing experience
- Familiarity with orthopaedic traction devices and techniques
- Understanding of spine, hip, and joint precautions
