An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical and Oncology care to provide skilled nursing on a 12-hour night shift in a 52-bed MedSurg unit focused on orthopedic and surgical patients. This contract position offers a challenging yet rewarding environment caring for a variety of post-operative and medical patients in private rooms.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current RN licensure with experience in Medical-Surgical nursing, Oncology specialization preferred
- BLS certification required; NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- ACLS certification is a plus
- Experience with post-op ortho and neuro patients including laminectomies, discectomies, and spinal fusions
- Comfort with managing patient telemetry and intermittent ventilatory support such as BiPAP and CPAP
- Familiarity with hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis procedures highly preferred
- Ability to work a 1:6-7 patient ratio effectively, including charge nurse duties when assigned
- Experience in electronic medical records, ideally Sunrise EMR
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care for orthopedic, surgical, and medical post-op patients in an all-private room unit
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and IV teams
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations every other weekend or as needed
- Adhere to established protocols for medication administration including drips and PCA management
- Provide patient education and support during recovery and discharge planning
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (Fri/Sat nights) and holiday coverage as needed
