Travel Med Surg Nurse (RN) | Winston-Salem, North Carolina

A registered nurse with solid Med Surg expertise and orthopedic trauma experience is needed for a contract role in a hospital setting in Winston-Salem, NC. This position focuses on caring for elective and trauma orthopedic patients, including pre-operative and post-operative care related to total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements and repairs.

Responsibilities include utilizing safe patient handling techniques and orthopedic equipment such as CPM machines, knee immobilizers, and bone foam. Nurses will work closely with Rapid Response Teams and provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment staffed at a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio (with possible stretch to 1:7). Use of the EPIC electronic health record system is required.

Shift:

• Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• One holiday shift and one evening shift during the holiday period also required

Desired Qualifications:

• Current RN license with Med Surg nursing experience
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; no first-time travelers
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with orthopedic and trauma patient care
• Familiarity with rapid response teams and orthopedic specialty equipment
• Ability to pass a mandatory EKG exam
• Flexibility to meet strict scheduling and attendance policies
