Registered Nurse - Operating Room | Arlington Heights, IL | Contract Opportunity

Deliver specialized nursing care in a dynamic Level 1 Trauma Center located in Arlington Heights, IL. This contract position offers a consistent schedule with guaranteed 40 hours per week and the chance to work in a high-acuity operating room environment. The role is ideal for experienced OR nurses comfortable with a variety of surgical specialties including orthopedic trauma, vascular, urology, and general surgery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing emergent and elective procedures
  • Scrub and circulate efficiently during surgeries across multiple specialties such as ortho trauma, vascular, urology, and general surgery
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Float within scope as required to support facility needs in a mandatory float environment
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic health records
  • Adhere to facility protocols and Level 1 Trauma Center standards

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current RN license with at least 2 years recent acute care experience in the operating room
  • Strong scrub and circulating skills essential
  • Experience in Level 1 Trauma OR environment preferred
  • Proficiency in orthopedic trauma, vascular, urology, and general surgery required; neurosurgery, open heart/thoracic, ophthalmology, ENT, bariatric, and gynecology experience a plus
  • BLS certification required
  • Must reside within 75 miles of the facility; local candidates preferred

Schedule and Call Requirements

  • Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (10:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
  • Weekend: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Call: One 12-hour shift monthly on a weekend (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM), no weekday call
  • Restrictions: No call before or after holidays; limited to 5 days RTO with no more than 2 consecutive; no holiday or weekend RTO
