OR Nurse (RN) | Chicago, Illinois

A registered nurse with operating room expertise is needed for a contract position based in Chicago, IL. This role requires hands-on experience in an acute care, level 1 trauma center environment where advanced surgical procedures are performed. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic and diverse hospital setting, providing critical perioperative care to patients undergoing various surgeries.

Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years recent acute care experience in the Operating Room (OR)
• Strong proficiency in both scrub and circulating nurse roles
• Level 1 Trauma Center experience is required
• Clinical experience in Orthopedics, Orthopedic Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery
• Preferred additional experience in Neurosurgery (cranial and spine), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, and Gynecology
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory
• Ability and willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs

Schedule and Call Details:

• 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (2:30 PM to 11:00 PM)
• Weekend rotation every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• One 12-hour call shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday (7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM); no weekday call
• Return to work off requests capped at 5 days max, with no more than 2 consecutive and restrictions around holidays and weekends

Responsibilities:

• Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient OR workflow
• Maintain sterile techniques and assist in complex surgical procedures
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner electronic charting system
• Adapt to floating assignments across the hospital as required
